Category: Threads and Floss

Spun "Alger" silk thread for hand embroidery from Au Ver à Soie Paris, in a range of lush greens (and one silvery grey) I've selected for you that will contrast beautifully when combined with each other! Loosely plyed, this silk floss separates easily for work as fine as 1-2 strands. Bright and soft with an excellent tensile strength and smooth twist for snag-free needle working. The unrivaled quality of their raw silk means it does not abrade easily. And yes, it's colorfast and washable!

Au Ver à Soie silks have been made by the same family in Paris since 1820.

There are six colors in the VERDURE palette.

  • 100% spun silk
  • 7 strand floss
  • 5 meters per skein
  • colorfast and washable
  • Made in France

Avery ★★★★★

The 7-strand twist is noticeably finer than other silks I’ve tried, so the stitches lie flat without any fraying. I’ve been pairing the deep green with the silver grey for a leaf border, and the contrast is exactly as subtle as I hoped.

Adam Z. ★★★★★

I’m not usually someone who notices thread texture, but this silk has a smooth, almost creamy feel that glides through linen without tangling. The greens in this set are so well-paired that even my simplest stitches look like they were shaded on purpose.

Hazel ★★★★★

The way these seven strands catch the light and twist together gives my stitches a subtle sheen that synthetic floss just can't match. I've been pairing the deep greens with the silvery grey for some leaf shading, and the contrast is exactly what I hoped for.
